Meet your Official Safety Partner: Amy's Foundation
Amy's Foundation, as the Official Safety Partner of AusCycling, is proud to be working together to make Australian roads safer for everyone who rides. Established in 2005 in memory of Amy Gillett OLY, the Foundation works across all sides of the road safety equation - policy, enforcement, technology, and education - to make sure riders get home safe.
In 2026, we're focused on several major initiatives that matter to every rider in the AusCycling community. Our Metre Matters campaign is pushing for stronger enforcement of minimum passing distance laws across every state and territory, backed by national survey data that shows too many close pass reports are still going unenforced. We've also been working with QUT's Centre for Vision and Eye Research on groundbreaking visibility research, that tested how different reflective clothing performs in real-world night riding conditions. It's research that could change the way riders think about what they wear, and we'll be sharing more of those findings, and what they mean for the gear you choose, throughout the year.
Whether it's advocating for safer vehicle technology, working with police on close pass enforcement, conducting visibility research, or bringing the cycling community together through events like Amy's Gran Fondo and the Share the Road Tour, everything we do is driven by a single goal: fewer people killed and injured on Australian roads. Follow us on socials to stay across what's coming, and if you've experienced a close pass, we want to hear from you - head to our website and help us build the evidence for change. |
